prefo's previous history:
prefo (PREssFOrmwerk = moulding factory) was a GDR toy brand that produced model cars, railways and trams. In the course of the then socialisation of private companies, prefo and the SCHICHT company were combined. The latter possessed model train know-how. Since then H0 model waggons were produced under the brand of prefo. PIKO took responsibility for the distribution. After the German reunification, the model train branch migrated to SACHSENMODELLE. prefo did not exist any more. In 2003, we have reanimated and trademarked prefo. Now again, articles for model train enthusiasts are produced.

In order to do justice to the tradition and the name of prefo, we attach importance to quality. Therefore the majority of our products is made in Germany.
